Sabrina – Goddess of the Severn VÖ 2018-10-26 (Alice in ... - AIW 192 - CD)
INKUBUS SUKKUBUS - Sabrina – Goddess of the Severn - CD - AIW 192

Alice in... / Dark Dimensions Label Group
Release Date : 26.10.2018

Info :

“Sabrina – Goddess of the Severn” is the final part of the Inkubus Sukkubus musical Triptych “Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder” which has seen the release of “Barrow Wake” and “Belas Knap” albums interwoven within the regular Inkubus Sukkubus release Schedule.
A series of “Horror Folk” albums, the Witchcraft & Wonder series have seen the Inkubus Sukkubus explore the acoustic/folk side of their musical universe. The tracks have dealt with rich and at times dark history and folklore of rural Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.
Sabrina – Goddess of the Severn explores the flip side of the rural idyll, and finds a dark dystopia amongst the rambling fields, hedges and golden Cotswold stone. Central to the album is “Sabrina” the Roman Goddess of the River Severn, a goddess of darkness and light, mercy and cruelty.
As with Lilith and Bast, Sabrina has been a major influence upon Inkubus Sukkubus since before their formation in 1989.
Now on the eve of their third decade the Inkubus Sukkubus are still increasing in momentum as the wheel of fate, ever moving forward.

Nach “Barrow Wake” and “Belas Knap” erscheint mit “Sabrina – Goddess of the Severn” der dritte und zugleich letzte Teil des musikalischen Triptichones “Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder”

Vampire Queen VÖ 2018-04-06 (Alice in... - AIW 190 - CD)

In 1997 Inkubus Sukkubus released the album entitled “Vampyre Erotica”, the album was to see the band propel themselves, once again, to a higher level. “Vampyre Erotica” contained many of the bands most popular tracks, including “Heart of Lilith”, “All Along the Crooked Way”, “Vampyre Erotica” and “Sweet Morpheus”. The Album represented on of the many aspects of the multifaceted Inkubus Sukkubus, and led the listener into a decadent universe of dark romantic lust. The album heavily influenced by the “Hammer Horror” films of the late 1950s and early 1960s which portrayed the vampire as a beautiful, sexual and yet, tragic being. The location for the story was always a fictional hyper –Bohemia, and then to the melting pot was added a hint of sadomasochism, a pinch of humour and an ample serving of cleavage.

With their new album “Vampire Queen”, Inkubus Sukkubus once again visit the Vampire Realm. The Vampire Realm which is dark but not aphotic. It is a domain full of sensual passion, the dead resurrected, supernatural temptation and all of it in vibrant Technicolor. The band once again explore the sexual vampire in “Bathory”, “Vampire Queen” and “Angel of Lust”, the dark romance continues with “Let the Night Last Forever” and “In the Darkness and the Rain” but then move on to a medieval apocalyptic nightmare with “Here Come the Dead” which chronicles the plague of revenants of the middle ages, the band continue to traverse this Brugelesque and dreadful landscape with “Angelus Mortis” which sees the Angel of Death cutting a swathe through humanity as the Black Death.

The Band eventually returns to slightly more familiar territory with “Nature Child” and “Wolf Boy”, but not before passing through a shady netherworld for “Dancing the Night Away”. All in all, “Vampire Queen” is essentially a return, not only to the Vampire Realm but also to the familiar Inkubus Sukkubus heavier Rocky style for which the band is best known. “Vampire Queen is a delight of Glamour Horror”

Track List:

1. Bathory
2. Let the Night Last Forever
3. Angelus Mortis
4. Nature Child
5. Dancing the Night Away
6. Here come the Dead
7. Angel of Lust
8. In the Darkness and the Rain

Wikka Woman VÖ 2016-11-25 (Alice in ... - AIW 186 - CD)

Wikka Woman shall be the band’s 21st album released during their 27 career.

Wikka Waman is once more a leap into the fantastical realm of the supernatural, the dark, the light, the ecstasy and the despair.
A mixture of soothing ballads and vibrant guitar driven anthems, this album once again affirms the bands status as a prolific driving force at the forefront of both Pagan and Gothic Rock.

The frontover is supposed to emulate witchcraft books from the 1960 and seventies.

4. Field of the Nymphs
5. Dead of the Night

Barrow Wake - Tales of Witchcraft and Wonder Volum VÖ 2016-06-20 (Alice in... - AIW 181 - CD)
Inkubus Sukkubus - Barrow Wake - Tales of Witchcraft and Wonder Volume One
Alice in... Album CD
CAT. Nr.: AIW 181
Rel. Date : 20.06.2016

Inkubus Sukkubus’s 20 th CD release sees them returning to their dark folklore roots.

Formed in the summer of 1989 when Candia Ridley (now McKormack), Tony McKormack, and Adam Henderson met at college in Gloucester studying graphic design, the three students discovered they shared an interest in magic, the supernatural and dark alternative music. Over the ensuing years, the band went through numerous line-up changes – always with Candia and Tony at the core – and travelled extensively, touring their distinctive brand of Gothic Pagan folk rock to such far-flung places as Mexico, Russia, Australia, the USA, Scandinavia, Europe, and the length and breadth of the UK.

As Gloucestershire natives – Candia from the Severnside village of Saul, and Tony from Cheltenham – the two have always had a fascination with the folklore of the area, with songs retelling tales of river goddesses, witch persecution and magical landscapes. As well as looking at more general British mythology – shape-shifting, seasonal agricultural celebrations and witch-finding – the new CD Barrow Wake explores some peculiarly Gloucestershire dark tales while giving a nod towards the horror movies of Candia and Tony’s youths, such as The Wicker Man and Blood on Satan’s Claw.

We hear the sorry tale of the Witch of Berkeley, a woman who lived life to the full only to find her hedonistic ways catching up with her in spectacular and demonic style; the mystical, almost hallucinogenic realm of Forest Hill, based on Gloucestershire’s May Hill; and the county’s famously picturesque viewpoint Barrow Wake finds its darker associations explored.

The Rape of Maude Bowen is based on the ‘true’ stories surrounding Maude’s Elm in Cheltenham, dealing with incest, murder and witch persecution; while The Campden Wonder is a similarly fantastic tale with a strange twist, set in the Cotswold town of Chipping Campden in the 17 th century.

Inkubus Sukkubus once more deliver, the bitter and also the sweet.

Mother Moon is the 19th Album released by Inkubus Sukkubus, The band formed in 1989 and have been recording and performing live continuously for the last 26 years. Recently performing at the Amphi Festival in Germany and Castle Fest in Poland, as well as in Scandinavia, and also several dates in the UK, they show no signs of slowing down and their latest release “Mother Moon“, is testament to this.

The Album slightly different from previous releases in that, although it does contain electric Rock tracks, such as the title track, it is predominantly an acoustic album, and further more it features for the first time in Inkubus Sukkubus history, the “finger picking” nylon string technique.

Lyrically the album is once more an odyssey into the Pagan world and human nature with all its darkness and all of its light, from the joyous “Mother Moon” which is a celebration of the feminine divine within nature, to “No End to War” which concedes that conflict is a universal and eternal element to the human experience. Inkubus Sukkubus once more deliver, the bitter and also the sweet.

Inkubus Sukkubus

Inkubus Sukkubus formed in the summer of 1989, when Candia Ridley, Adam Henderson and Tony McKormack met at Art College. From the onset the band was heavily influenced by Paganism, Witchcraft and Vampires. Musically the band has always been a unique fusion of Folk, Metal and Gothic Rock, although the band had also taken inspiration from a myriad of influence, such as the music of Mexico and the Middle East.

As with most bands, the journey for Inkubus Sukkubus did not begin very easily. After an initial period of a few months songwriting, the band managed to enlist the help of Bob Gardener as the band’s drummer; this was followed by a series of live performances in the band’s home town. Later in 1990 Inkubus Sukkubus recorded their first release, the single “Beltaine”, however various pressing problems ensured that the single was never properly released, and this led to the band splitting up, with Tony and Candia forming a new band called “Children of the Moon”.

During the Children of the Moon phase, the band recorded two tape albums and sold them by post, using the underground Pagan zine network. At this point the band was using a drum machine and midi sequencers along with electric guitars.

By the end of 1991 Children of the Moon had a growing underground following and began to get radio airplay. Inkubus Sukkubus were reformed by the beginning of 1992 and the material recorded under Children of the Moon was re-released as Inkubus Sukkubus, as the cassette mail order album Beltaine. It was to take another year before the band were approached by Nightbreed Records, with the offer of a recording contract. During the spring of 1993 the band’s first CD album “Belladonna & Aconite” was released and the band began to perform all over the UK. By the summer the band had signed to Pagan Media Records, and were recording a new album, “WYTCHES”.

The album WYTCHES was released in the spring of 1994, although the band and Pagan Media Records parted company later that year. The band then signed to the newly formed “Resurrection Records” with whom the band are still signed. Over the following twenty years Inkubus Sukkubus have released 15 albums, (including re-releases of their first 3 albums) with Resurrection Records, and 2 Anthology albums with Cleopatra, USA. They have also played countless live shows across the UK, Europe, the USA, Mexico, Australia and Russia. They have appeared on national TV in several countries and have managed to maintain a large and loyal following. Despite the current global economic recession, Inkubus Sukkubus are still recording and releasing albums. They have also been able to remain true to the original concept of the band.

In 2014 the band are releasing their 18th album, entitled “Love Poltergeist”; the name of the album was conceived by Candia and Tony’s daughter Carmen. The album consists of yet more new material and demonstrates that even in their 25th year Inkubus Sukkubus show no signs of slowing down.

Embracing the Dark Goddess

For 21 years now Inkubus Sukkubus have been weaving their magick for music fans across the world. So, what does the future hold for this passionately unique and diverse band…

When three students got together at a Gloucestershire college in 1989, they did so for a shared interest in alternative music, earth mysteries and occultism. Little did they know at this time the enduring appeal and vice-like grip the music would have on them and many of the band’s followers over the years.
Twenty-one years on, and Inkubus Sukkubus has released 13 albums and played over most of the world. The band has a very unique and interesting sound that is mystical, exciting, beautiful and erotic.
Inkubus Sukkubus are very much part of the supernatural world, both the light and the dark. Almost the entire band’s vast lyrical library is based around mystical and occult themes. The uncompromising nature of the band’s lyrics has, over time, won them a large international audience, but at the same time has put a ceiling on their success. But this is how the band wanted it and it is why they signed to a small independent record label; complete artistic freedom is very important to Inkubus Sukkubus. This is not to say that the band have not had any mainstream attention; they have appeared on BBC Radio 1, Channel 4 TV, BBC World Service Radio and have reached number 40 in the US download charts, but in general terms Inkubus Sukkubus are very much an underground phenomenon, hidden from the everyday world.
The band homepage at inkubussukkubus.com is the gateway to more than 25 free music downloads, video links, gig dates, pictures and a detailed history of the band. It is also possible to buy signed copies of the band’s albums. The alternative location of this site is at paganfire.com

The Dark Goddess
The latest Inkubus Sukkubus release, entitled the ‘Dark Goddess’, is a celebration of the less benevolent aspects of female divinity and is dedicated to the Goddess Lilith. Not every single track embraces this theme; there is the anthemic ‘Karnayna Chorus’, which is a celebration of the Horned God, but most of the songs on the album point towards the many aspects of the goddess at her more sinister.
One track, ‘Lose yourself at the Nymphaeum’, was inspired by an actual event. Bassist in the band Bob Gardener was repairing a Cotswold stone wall for a woman in Gloucestershire, when he found hidden in the wall a statue of a young woman sleeping. Although the statue had been damaged by many years of rain and other weather, it was still extremely lifelike, as if the girl were merely asleep. As the area where the figure was found has a reputation for having a ‘strong supernatural presence’, Bob was eager to leave the little stone lady where he found her, but the owner of the wall had no desire for him to do so and asked him to remove her. So Bob has kept the statue. The finding of the sleeping girl seemed to be a sign of sorts, especially in an area known both for having an eerie atmosphere and a long history dating back to Roman times. Although the sleeping girl may not date back as far as antiquity, the sentiment that was behind the hiding of the figure in the wall could well be. The wall in which the figure was discovered is located very close to the village of Chedworth which has a Nypmphaeum in the form of a water shrine located in the remains of the Roman villa there, a little further away is the once notorious Woodchester Park located in the village of Nympsfield, where an ancient Long Barrow is also to be found.
Inkubus Sukkubus are known for embracing both the dark and the light, which is one of the reasons why they are known for their depth and complexity by music fans, Pagans and academics alike, and the ‘Dark Goddess’ album certainly has both darkness and light within it.
Throughout 2011 Inkubus Sukkubus will be concentrating on their live shows and developing their performance which, now where possible, contains a video backdrop. The year will also see the re-release of three of the band’s albums ‘Supernature’, ‘Heartbeat of the Earth’ and ‘Away with the Faeries’.

Viva La Muerte VÖ 2010-03-05 (Alice in... - AIW 161 - CD)

Track listing:

The Goat
Sweet fallen angel

Two-Penny Whore
Forever
Rice of Pan
Pagan Born (Acoustic)
Fire & Ice
Breath of Wanting
Melancholy Blue

All of the tracks on the album are new recordings, and the album was recorded in August/September 2011. The Goat contains a mixture of old and new songs, some of the tracks were part of the first set list that the band played back in 1989.

There is by popular demand, an acoustic recording of “Pagan Born”, one of the band’s all time classics, there is also the track “Fire and Ice” which the band played but never recorded, and an Inkubus Sukkubus version of “Sweet Fallen Angel” which was originally recorded by Tony McKormack’s side project “Vampire Division”.

Possibly the most notable track from the older material is “Melancholy Blue” which Tony McKormack wrote around 25 years ago. Melancholy Blue was recorded, but never released by McKormack’s previous band “The Screaming Dead”. At the very end of their career, The Screaming Dead used the recording to enter a nationwide competition to “find a band” with the Daily Mirror Newspaper. They came second; the winning band was “Curiosity Killed the Cat”. Later the band was offered two major recording contracts based on the strength of the track Melancholy Blue, however at this point the band had split up. Shortly after this Tony McKormack was offered what was quite a substantial sum of money to sign over ownership of the track to a member of a world famous band from the 1960’s. He turned down the deal, and the track was soon part of the repertoire of the fledgling Inkubus Sukkubus. However the band only rehersed the track a few times and never recorded it, until now….

The newer tracks on the album are in particular “The Goat” and “Breath of Wanting” are already being seen as amongst the bands finest work and are an indication that Inkubus Sukkubus are still vey much a vibrant and creative entity with a lot more to come.
