STILLSTE STUND – Irre Schatten
STILLSTE STUND release their new two-track single „Irre Schatten“, showing an unsparing image of our society. For Oliver, it is “merely another episode of an odyssey through this sick world.” He continues: “With this song, we revisit the own beginnings. That feels natural, as there are pieces dating back to the late 1980s that have never been released but fit well with our feelings of today.” The original version of ‚Irre Schatten‘ was once titled ‚Sick World‘ and dates back to 1992. Updated and catchy but without loosing its original spirit containing post-punk and dark wave influences. The song retains even its English-sung middle part, eventually becoming bilingual. The intro and outro are shaped by the eerie sound of a theremin – the world’s oldest electronic musical instrument. The second track ‚Die Hure Babylon‘ comes as a remix, marked in this version by a deliberate sense of electronic impact. Inanis explains: “Oliver’s metaphorical lyrics, filled with these biblical images, feel like an end-times sermon. I could literally see lightning striking from the sky and hitting the ground beside me! Such images need to hit with force. But still within our very own framework, without losing its depth and meaning. A quite difficult balancing act with this much text!” The two tracks once again underline the stylistic range and complexity of Stillste Stund, while maintaining a strong sense of conceptual coherence. Both songs explore the darker sides of human interaction: false masks, transgressions and moments of exposure.
